This yarn is dyed with willow branches on a base of single-ply Ontario-raised wool in a versatile fingering weight. The skein length is 400 yards. This yarn is an energized single, meaning it has not been plied to balance the twist. It is recommended not to knit stockinette with it, as it will skew. The twist will also affect the structure of weaving.

My hand-dyed yarn bases are Canadian farm-raised wool, processed by small woolen mills here in Canada. This provides support directly to the farmers, and allows me to use yarns processed using fewer chemicals.  My yarns are dyed on my wood stove, using my home-heating system to also power my dye pots. The dyes are derived from locally grown and foraged plants, which are sustainably gathered with ecosystem preservation being my top priority.

I use a kettle-dye process which does not create an even, solid colour; there are tones and depths which vary throughout the skein. Some skeins are dyed with the plant materials in the same pot as the yarn, so you may find spots of intensified colours where the dyestuffs came in contact with the yarn (or even bits of dyestuff!). These skeins are processed by small Canadian mills, and the smaller equipment sometimes leads to some skeins having a knot within them.
